Current Transformers

Current transformers are measurement transformers used to measure the current flowing through the circuit.

Direct measurements of high currents by measuring instruments are very dangerous and difficult as well as being costly. Therefore, the current passing through the circuit must be reduced to a certain value to be measured. The current transformer, which is contactless and connected to the circuit, transfers the magnetic field generated by the current passing through the primary circuit to the second circuit called secondary. By means of the current generated in the secondary circuit, the amount of current flowing through the primary circuit can be measured with the meter connected in parallel to the secondary winding.
